"Hal Lott is an outstanding photographer. As a field editor and stylist, I have worked with Hal for over 20 years on numerous photo shoots, including those for Southern Accents Magazine, Better Homes & Gardens' Special Interest Publications and many others. I can't tell you how many homes we shot - or how many covers we worked on, but I can say Hal is a consummate professional. Talent like his doesn't come along very often. We often made magic with "uncertain" locations and often Hal made our better locations truly special. I would recommend Hal to any company for any project." - Joetta Moulden http://www.shelterstyle.com.

Hal definitely knows which end of the camera to point at the subject. He also has a penchant for photographs that are well composed, properly exposed and in focus, all of which make him kind of a dinosaur these days.
When working with people, Hal is one part traffic cop, one part psychologist, and one part stand-up comedian. Everyone on the set usually ends up laughing and having a great time. Hal is incredibly thoughtful and organized. You would think these traits would be counter productive to the creative process, but they don't seem to have harmed him so far.
Perhaps Hal's greatest asset is his ability to see beyond the obvious, always looking for that little bit of magic that makes a shot unique. It might be the light, an expression, or just a different point of view. When he can't find it, he just shoots a lot of frames and hopes something comes out right.
